Two cultural myths from the upper amazon: tales of a humanized world

Resumen

Despite cultural, linguistic and geographic differences, the Witoto and Tikuna indigenous peoples share mythical episodes, which happen to be at the base of their everyday activities and their rituals of relationship with the forest and its masters. This text highlights some similarities in the myths of origin of both groups, which moves us to find out more about the complementarity between actions of the mythical twins, and the restoration and organization of the world for human survival, knowledge and values.

A pesar de las diferencias culturales, lingüísticas y geográficas, los pueblos indígenas tikuna y uitoto comparten episodios míticos que resultan ser la base de las actividades cotidianas y rituales de su relación con la selva y sus dueños. El presente escrito resalta algunas semejanzas entre los mitos de origen de ambos grupos, que nos motivan a indagar más sobre la complementariedad existente entre las acciones de los gemelos míticos, y el restablecimiento y organización del mundo para la supervivencia del hombre, sus conocimientos y sus valores.
