Somos un mismo pueblo con culturas diversas

Sumario: Drawing on development ethics and an intercultural perspective, this article explores the controversial process of implementing the right to food sovereignty through appropriate indicators. For this purpose, we review a number of international contributions to the discussion around making food sovereignty interculturally and locally monitorable. Linking them to the case and experience of Ecuador, we first broadly identify two approaches to food sovereignty: (1) a techno- centric, state-centered and monocultural approach and a (2) re-localizing, intercultural and potentially more holistic approach. Secondly, we critically review those international contributions that make a case for intercultural dimensions to food sovereignty. We finally present a synthetic matrix of seven dimensions towards the creation of intercultural monitoring for the right to food sovereignty in Ecuador
