This paper aims at suggesting possibilities to consider Me llamo Rigoberta Menchú y así me nació la conciencia, which was published in 1985, as an opportunity to a non canonical literature teaching in high school. In accordance with Grosfoguel’s proposition (2008) to move the positioning from the European man to American indigenous women, such as Rigoberta Menchú, and seeking to embrace those literatures that are still hardly studied in high school, it is suggested to build perspectives to discuss social life aspects, in particular those exclusion and social injustice situations that are perpetuated by the process of coloniality. |
