Somos un mismo pueblo con culturas diversas

Sumario:  This study seeks to identify the different indigenous body practices and reflect on its application in physical education classes. In Brazil, nowadays live about 460 thousand indians, distributed among 225 indigenous communities, having 180 different languages. They constitute an underexplored source for doing research on education related areas. The habits, creeds and indigenous rituals are knowledge to be worked on school, taking in consideration that the habits and values from these people have their own origin, different from social groups that are not indigenous. The indigenous culture body is a universe of values and meanings that are unknown in the context of capitalist societies and can be resignified by the pedagogic intercultural practice, as this enables students to gain knowledge of different social groups. The methodological procedure constituted of literature review, based on the ideas of Severino (2007). As a result, it was concluded that the inclusion of indigenous body practices in school physical education classes: 1) it is an enriching repertoire to be explored in the school environment as knowledge to be understood and reframed, 2) contributes to the minimization social prejudices and 3) it is a contribution to the expansion and diversity of content of teaching in these classes.
