Sumario: Solving the problems of hunger, malnutrition and poor diet is a temporary and priority issue; in 2008 year, Constitution recognizes the need to promote food sovereignty. In this context, it is important to assess food sovereignty in Picaihua Parish, Canton Ambato, from food webs and artisanal production. The problem that motivated this research is the lack of information to understand the state of food sovereignty in the local area of Picaihua Parish, so that authorities and local people do not have the tools and information to make proposals that contribute to generating policies public tending to minimize the existing problems. The development first by way of introduction, set out the background and problem justifying the development of this research, which aims to assess food sovereignty in the parish Picaihua from food and craft production networks; subsequently defined and conceptualized the various elements and approaches, which are used to evaluate food sovereignty in the parish Picaihua from food networks and craft production. Below is information relevant in the Picaihua parish, which is the case study, enabling you to acquire an adequate knowledge of the same; then presents the results obtained from field research, developed on the basis of the information collected by instruments designed to analyze food sovereignty in the parish Picaihua from networks of food and handicraft production, and it is argued and discussed the findings of the investigation. Finally presents the relevant results obtained in all the research, conclusions and recommendations. It is expected that the results generated by this research, technical and objective, are socialized and that become an input to existing local, regional and national authorities can generate public policies aimed to minimize the existing problem-based.
